🔧 Tools Needed
1/4 inch drill bit
1 1/4 inch metal hole drill bit
7mm socket
Phillips screwdriver
Box knife
⚙️ Part 1: Prepare and Access the Machine
Unlock and open the machine.
Turn off the machine.
Identify wall type:
Determine if you are working with a Slim Wall (10) or Mega Wall (15).
🛠️ Part 2: Remove Tray Assembly
Remove bottom tray screws.
Slide the tray to the left to disconnect it from its slots.
Disconnect motor wires from the tray.
Remove the tray completely from the machine.
(If Slim Wall only):
Locate the wire tie.
Use a box knife to cut it carefully, avoiding any damage to the wires.
🧩 Part 3: Modify Scanner Mounting
Close the machine for external drilling steps.
On the hinged side of the machine (right side, opposite of locks), locate the bottom hinge.
On the scanner plate:
Remove the three gold nuts.
Place them in a safe location.
Remove the plate.
Position the plate on the outside of the machine where the bottom hinge is centered between the screw holes.
Drill three pilot holes using the 1/4 inch drill bit.
Drill a center hole using the 1 1/4 inch metal hole drill bit.
Remove the plate after drilling.
🔌 Part 4: Mount and Wire the Scanner
Reopen the machine, hold the ID scanner, and position the plate inside the machine.
Secure the plate:
Fasten it from the inside using the three gold nuts.
Tighten each nut securely.
Open the inside of the door by removing the screws.
Locate the red Android board inside the door.
Plug the USB end of the scanner cord into an open USB port on the Android board.
Connect the scanner cord to the scanner head.
Close the inside door panel and refasten screws.
🧩 Part 5: Reinstall Tray and Final Steps
Slide the tray back in, making sure it's aligned to access wiring.
Reconnect motor wires to their appropriate terminals.
Reinsert and tighten the three screws to secure the tray.
Turn the machine back on.
Close and lock the machine to complete the installation.
