Fixing broken Motor Wires

Here is a step-by-step guide to fixing the broken motor wires on your vending machine.

Updated this week

Tools Required

  • Screwdriver – For removing the tray mounting screws

  • Wire Strippers/Cutters – For preparing the broken wire ends

  • Lever Wire Connector – The small grey connector with orange/blue levers used to join the wires

Step 1: Power Off the Machine (Safety First)

Before performing any work, switch off the vending machine using the main power switch.
This prevents the risk of electrical shock and protects the machine from accidental damage.

Step 2: Remove the Tray

To access the wiring behind the tray, the tray must be removed from the frame.

  1. Locate the three screws securing the metal hinge of the tray to the machine wall.

  2. Use a screwdriver to remove all three screws.

  3. Slide the tray slightly to expose the wiring behind it.

  4. If additional space is required, unplug the motor connectors (labeled #5, #6, etc.) and remove the tray completely.

Step 3: Prepare the Broken Wire

  1. Identify the two broken ends of the wire.

  2. Using the wire strippers, locate the stripping slot.

  3. Strip approximately Β½ inch of insulation from each wire end to expose the copper.

  4. Twist the exposed copper strands tightly on both ends to prevent fraying.

Step 4: Connect the Wires

  1. Take the lever wire connector (grey block with colored levers).

  2. Lift both levers upward to open the connector slots.

  3. Insert one twisted wire end into one side of the connector.

  4. Push the lever down until it locks in place.

  5. Insert the second wire end into the opposite side and lock the lever.

  6. Gently pull on both wires to confirm the connection is secure.

Step 5: Reinstall the Tray

  1. Reposition the tray back onto the machine frame.

  2. Reconnect the motor plugs, ensuring the numbers match correctly (e.g., wire #5 to motor #5).

  3. Align the tray hinge with the mounting holes.

  4. Reinstall and tighten the three screws securely.

Step 6: Power On and Test

Turn the machine power back on using the main power switch.
Verify that the motor is now operating correctly.

Completion

The wire repair is now complete and the machine should be fully functional. If the motor does not operate as expected, recheck all wire connections and motor plugs.
