Rebooting your machine resolves a wide range of issues: an offline status that won't clear, a frozen screen, a card reader that stopped responding, or software that's acting unexpectedly. There are two ways to reboot — physically at the machine, or remotely through VapeTM support.
Option 1: Physical Reboot (at the machine)
Use this method when you or a location contact can access the machine directly.
Locate the power cord at the back or bottom of the machine.
Unplug it from the wall outlet. Do not just flip a power strip switch — fully disconnect the cord from the outlet.
Wait 30 seconds. This ensures the machine fully powers down and clears any cached state.
Plug the cord back in. The machine will boot up automatically — this typically takes 60–90 seconds.
Check the status in your VapeTM portal. The machine should appear online within 2–3 minutes of completing its boot sequence.
Note: The Nayax card reader reboots along with the machine. If the card reader had a black screen or wasn't reading cards, a power cycle often resolves it.
Option 2: Remote Reboot (via VapeTM support)
If you cannot physically access the machine, VapeTM support can push a remote reboot from the backend — but only if the machine is currently online. If the machine is showing offline, a remote reboot is not possible and a physical power cycle is required.
To request a remote reboot, contact VapeTM support and have the following ready:
Your machine's serial number — support uses this to identify and access your device in the backend. See: How to Find Your Machine's Serial Number.
A description of the issue — what the machine is displaying and what troubleshooting you've already tried.
After the remote reboot, support will confirm the machine is back online and may run a test to verify everything is functioning correctly.
When Should You Reboot?
Machine showing offline in your portal — reboot is the first step after checking the physical internet connection (ethernet or Wi-Fi).
Touchscreen is frozen or unresponsive — a reboot clears the software state.
Nayax card reader showing "Transaction Cancel" repeatedly — power cycling resets the card reader connection.
Card reader shows a black screen — reboot the machine first; if it persists, contact support for a backend reset.
Software settings not updating on the machine screen — changes made in your VapeTM portal are pushed when the machine is online. A reboot can trigger a fresh sync.

If rebooting doesn't resolve your issue, book a support session with your machine serial number ready.
