Machine Hardware: Replace Sensors

This guide provides a step-by-step approach to replacing the sensors on your machine.

Tools Required

  • Small Stubby Phillips Head Screwdriver

  • Wire Cutters / Snips (to remove zip ties)

Diagnostic Check

To confirm a sensor is failing:

  1. Ensure the product bin is completely empty.

  2. Attempt to dispense a product from the machine.

  3. If the machine reports "Product Dispensed" despite being empty, the sensors are faulty and need replacement.

Step 1: Preparation and Safety

  1. Open the machine door to access the product box area.

  2. Power Off: Turn the machine power switch to the OFF position before handling any electrical components.

Step 2: Disconnect the Faulty Sensor

  1. Locate the Sensors: There are two sensors in the product box—one on the left side and one on the right.

  2. Remove Zip Ties: Carefully cut the small zip tie securing the sensor wires using your wire cutters.

[!CAUTION] Use extreme care not to cut or nick the actual wires while removing the zip tie.

  3. Unplug the Wire: Grasp the connector and gently wiggle it back and forth while pulling outward until it disconnects from the sensor.

Step 3: Remove the Old Sensor

  1. Access the Screws: Using your stubby screwdriver, locate the two screws at the back of the sensor mounting.

  2. Unscrew: Remove both screws. Since space is tight in the bin, be careful not to drop the screws into the machine frame.

  3. Remove Sensor: Pull the old sensor unit out of the machine.

Step 4: Install the New Sensor

  1. Positioning: Place the new sensor in the bracket, aligning the screw holes with the mounting points.

  2. Secure: Reinsert the two screws and tighten them until the sensor is firm and level.

  3. Reconnect Wiring: Plug the wire connector into the new sensor.

    • Note: The connector is keyed, meaning it will only fit in one direction. Do not force it; once aligned, ensure it is fastened all the way in.

  4. Wire Management: Use a new zip tie to secure the wires back in place, keeping them clear of the product delivery path.

Step 5: Testing the Replacement

  1. Turn the machine power back ON.

  2. Perform a Test Vend: Ensure the product bin is still empty.

  3. Select a product number and attempt a purchase.

  4. Confirm Success: * The machine should attempt to deliver the item.

    • Since the bin is empty, the machine should now recognize that nothing was dispensed.

    • If the machine successfully reports no delivery, the new sensor is working correctly.

Need Assistance? If the machine continues to falsely report dispenses after replacing one sensor, you may need to repeat this process for the sensor on the opposite side of the bin. For further technical support, please contact our team.
