Android Board Replacement Guide

Step-by-step instructions for replacing the Android board on a VTM vending machines.

What You Will Need

  • 7mm socket wrench

  • Phillips screwdriver

  • Your phone (to take reference photos)

  • Replacement Android board

Board Positions in machine:

Slim Wall TCG / Slim Wall / Mega Wall 2.0: Please open the door and remove the panel behind it — you will be able to see all the hardware parts inside.

Slim Tower TCG / Slim Tower / Mini Wall: Please open the door and look at the bottom left corner — you should see the hardware part inside a case.

Before You Begin

The Android board is a red board located inside the machine. It also has a fan attached to it. Take your time with this replacement — do not force or tear any cables.

⚠️ Important: Take multiple photos of the board and all cable positions with your phone before disconnecting anything. This will serve as your reference when reinstalling.

Phase 1 — Open the Machine & Power Off

Step 1: Open the machine door

Unlock and open the front door of the vending machine to access the internal components.

Step 2: Power off the machine

Turn the machine off before proceeding with any hardware work.

Step 3: Remove the inner panel

There are 4 screws securing the inner panel. Remove all 4 screws to open the panel and gain full access to the Android board inside.

Phase 2 — Remove the Old Android Board

Step 4: Take reference photos

Before disconnecting anything, use your phone to take multiple clear photos of the board and all cable connections. Make sure every connector and wire position is captured. These photos are critical for reinstallation.

Step 5: Remove the fan (3 nuts)

Using your 7mm socket wrench, remove the 3 nuts securing the fan to the board — one at the top, one in the middle, and one at the bottom. Carefully move the fan aside and let it hang — you do not need to fully remove it.

Step 6: Disconnect all cables

Gently disconnect all the cables from the Android board using a small tug and a back-and-forth twist motion. Take your time — do not yank or tear the cables from their connectors.

ℹ️ Tip: If any connectors are tight, use a knife or flat tool to carefully lift up on both sides of the connector before pulling. Never force a connector out.

Step 7: Disconnect the Wi-Fi antenna cable

On the back of the board, there is a small gray Wi-Fi antenna cable. Carefully pop it off — it detaches with a gentle pull.

Step 8: Remove the 4 board screws

Using your Phillips #2 screwdriver, remove the 4 screws securing the Android board — one in each corner. The board can now be lifted out.

Phase 3 — Install the New Android Board

Step 9: Connect the Wi-Fi antenna cable first

Before mounting the new board, connect the gray Wi-Fi antenna cable to the corner connector on the back of the new board. Press firmly until it snaps snugly into place. This may take a moment — do not force it.

Step 10: Mount the new board with 4 screws

Line up the new Android board with the mounting holes and secure it with the 4 Phillips screws — one in each corner.

ℹ️ Note: The 4th screw also serves as the ground connection for the monitor cable. Make sure it is tightened securely.

Step 11: Reconnect all cables

Referring back to the photos you took in Step 4, reconnect all cables to their original positions on the new board. Double-check each connection before moving on.

Step 12: Verify all cables before reinstalling the fan

Before reattaching the fan, compare the current cable layout against your reference photos to confirm that all wires are back in their correct positions.

Step 13: Reinstall the fan

Place the fan back onto the board — top post first, then the bottom. Using your 7mm socket wrench, tighten the 3 nuts to secure the fan.

⚠️ Caution: Make sure no wires are caught or pinched under the fan before tightening.

Phase 4 — Reassemble & Power On

Step 14: Close the inner panel

Reattach the inner panel and secure it with the 4 screws.

Step 15: Power on the machine

Plug the machine back in and power it on. Allow it to fully boot up and confirm the Android board is functioning correctly.

Done! The Android board replacement is complete. If you experience any issues after replacement, please contact VTM Support for further assistance.
